ISSUES FAIRFAX : FAIRFAX 2030. On April 26, 2007, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Fairfax County and George Mason University co-hosted a premier community forum: Issues Fairfax: Fairfax 2030. This year’s forum focused on how, as a community, we can manage our future growth in a manner that sustains the community's core values while best accommodating the transition from a traditional suburban community to a more urban place.
The symposium opened with an overview of the practices for suburban communities to mature and the anticipated growth moving towards the year 2030 in Fairfax County. There were break-out sessions where stakeholders engaged in an interactive dialogue leading to consensus statements about our core values, identifying the challenges of our growth and our planning priorities for management. The results of these sessions were discussed by attendees and instantly polled by technology called, Decision Software.
